Gary Reetz, also known as the funny one, left for Heaven in April of 2020. He, however, left a lasting impression on anyone that knew him.

 

While growing up in grade school here in Indianola, Gary’s parents worked very hard, but did not have a lot of money. There were times when he had holes in the bottom of his shoes, and would use cardboard to protect the bottoms of his feet. Because of this, Gary was so passionate about new shoes for school, and understood the confidence that a new pair could bring when going back to school! He would always make sure his son and grandchildren were always starting their first days each year with new shoes.

In his memory, we are excited to be able to provide new shoes to you this year! Gary was always known for telling others, “If everyone would be kind to each other and take care of one another, the world would be a better place.” With your new shoes as a reminder, if you see someone having a bad day, reach out to them. If you see someone being unkind, remember that they may be having a difficult time, be there for them.
